Biographical/Historical note: Asael Carlyle "A.C." Lambert (1893-1983) was born in Kamas, Utah. He was a noted figure in education, administration, and planning in Utah, Idaho, and California. Beginning in 1925 he served Brigham Young University as a Professor of Education, including a term as Principal of Brigham Young High School from 1926 to 1928, then as Professor of Educational Administration, Dean of the Graduate School, and Administrative Director of the school's libraries until 1950. From 1951 to 1962 he worked at various positions in California for Los Angeles State College. Carlyle B. "C. B." Lambert (1917-2005) Rexburg, Idaho, to Asael Carlyle and Florence Ballif Lambert. He earned his B.S. from BYU in 1938, and his M.S. in 1940, winning the Sigma Psi Award for best scientific study. He was accepted for doctoral studies at The University of Chicago, but gave up this dream because WWII was raging and he had a young family to support. C.B. worked for the U.S. and Utah State Departments of Agriculture, and for Remington Arms in Salt Lake City during WWII. He then spent 32 years with Geneva Steel's Blast Furnace Division, retiring as Production Superintendent in 1979.

Scope and Contents note: This collection contains items given to Carlyle B. Lambert by his father Asael Carlyle "A. C." Lambert along with other personal papers and letters related to his father's research of the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A large portion includes copies of A. C. Lambert's personal notebooks with handwritten letters to Carlyle covering the history and development of early Mormon scriptures, materials dealing with practices, rituals, and doctrines propounded by the Church's early leaders and a comparative study of Mormonism with Freemasonry. C. B. Lambert continued his father's research on a personal level exploring his long held religious beliefs. There are also books published by authors relating to the same research.
